Backwater Valve and/or Sump Pump Installation - This project involves installing backwater valves and/or sump pumps, and other such work as may be necessary to complete the contract, as set forth in this Invitation For Bid (IFB). The City estimates spending $1,700,000.00 total for the project. No phone calls concerning questions about the bid will be accepted. The last day to submit questions will be specified in the IFB. A pre-bid meeting will not be held. City of Columbus MBE/WBE Program: This project is subject to the requirements of the City's MBE/WBE Program. The MBE/WBE goal assigned to this project is 15.0%. he contract will be awarded to the lowest, responsive, responsible, and best bidder. City certified MBE/WBE firms that submit a bid may be eligible to receive a bid discount of 5% of the bid amount up to a maximum discount of $50,000.00. To be eligible for the bid discount, the firm must: o Be the prime contractor. o Be certified by the City's Office of Diversity and Inclusion as an MBE/WBE capable of providing the type of construction services sought by the City at the bid due date. o Be a member of the ethnic and gender groups determined by the City's 2019 Disparity Study to have a statistically significant disparity in the awarding of City construction contracts. Surveying the rim of the upstream manhole and the elevation of the first floor of the property. o Televising the sanitary lateral to determine location of any foundation drain direct connections. o Preparing Work Orders utilizing contract pay items; o Installing backwater valve and associated plumbing to isolate plumbing below the grade of the upstream manhole and separating the plumbing above that elevation to discharge downstream of the valve. o Installing sump pumps and associated piping and electrical work as needed; o Redirecting existing foundation drains as needed; o Minimize impact to homeowner by: o Using mud mats to minimize damage to lawns; o Taking precautions to minimize dust inside house including covering homeowner's possessions with plastic. Protection against production and tracking of dust through the home shall be provided. After work is completed, dust, demolition material and construction debris shall be properly removed. The associated dirt along the access route shall be appropriately cleaned. The Contractor shall leave the Homeowner's residence in substantially the same condition it was prior to the work under this contractor being performed. Contractor shall remove all trash or other waste material associated with this work performed under this contract. o Using sod cutter to remove sod, then store and place back in areas to be excavated; o Putting down large tarps where excavation spoils are to be placed.
