This project generally consists of the complete replacement of the existing bridge. The bridge includes a steel stringer and concrete deck superstructure supported on stone masonry abutment walls. The new structure is twin precast concrete box culverts with precast concrete wingwalls. The work also includes roadway reconstruction, placement of metal beam rail, bridge rail, associated regrading and turf restoration, riprap installation, temporary water handling, traffic control and other miscellaneous site work. The work described above includes furnishing, installing and incorporating all materials and equipment into the project as well as performing or providing all labor, supervision, equipment and services unless otherwise noted within the bid documents for the lump sum base bid. No Bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of sixty (60) days after the date of bid opening. A satisfactory Bid Bond in an amount equal to five (5%) of the base Bid, shall be submitted with each bid. The Bid Bond shall be made payable to the Town of Suffield and shall be properly executed by the Bidder and acceptable sureties. All bonds must be from sureties registered in the State of Connecticut. This contract is subject to State Contract Compliance requirements, including non-discrimination statutes and set-aside requirements. See CHRO Requirements in Contract Documents. The award of a Contract, if awarded, will be to a responsible and qualified bidder, provided that the bid is reasonable and that it is in the best interest of the Town of Suffield to accept such bid.
