The general nature of the work on which bids are requested is furnishing and installing transfer switches and other electrical appurtenances to provide emergency power to specific areas at the Power Plant. Project also includes purchasing and delivering an emergency generator. Completion of the project is to be expected no later than November 30, 2025. Doc Note - The plans and specifications are now on file in the office of the city clerk. Copies thereof may be obtained at the office of the City Clerk. One set of bidding documents for the above project is available without charge to prospective bidders, subcontractor bidders, suppliers, and contractor plan room services. A fee may apply to additional sets and to bidding documents requested by other than prospective bidders, subcontractor bidders, suppliers, and contractor plan room services as defined herein. The City of Ames Purchasing Division is the only authorized source of bidding documents and bid forms. Bidding documents and bid forms obtained from any other source may have an incomplete set of documents. Bidders using bidding documents and/or bid forms not obtained from the City of Ames Purchasing Division are advised to contact the City of Ames Purchasing Division to provide a contact name, mailing address and phone number to enable receipt of necessary addenda. Reproduction of these documents without the express permission of the City of Ames is prohibited. Written questions will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. local time on April 1, 2025. Said questions may be sent via email to amanda.moore@cityofames.org or mailed or delivered to the Purchasing Division at 515 Clark Avenue, Ames, IA 50010. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Code of Iowa Section 26.8 and as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. Said bid security shall be based on an amount equal to at least 5% of the bid amount. The city manager shall announce the results of the bidding, together with his recommendations thereon, to the City Council at its meeting to be held at 6:00 o'clock p.m. local time on May 13, 2025. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of one (1) year from and after the completion and acceptance by the City. All bids shall be submitted to said city clerk on or before the time set herein for the bid opening. Bids shall be made on the Bid Form furnished by the City of Ames, in a sealed and plainly marked envelope indicating it is a bid in response to this notice. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
