Demolition and site work for a municipal facility in Gloucester Point, Virginia. Completed plans call for the demolition of a municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility.
The project is generally described as the complete demolition of Chesapeake Bay Hall and York River Halls at 1355 Greate Rd. Gloucester Point, VA 23062. Number WM-CIFB-VFPDC-0085-2025 State Project #: 268-18281-001 (CBH), 268-B4268-005 (YRH) We will have all chemicals removed from the building prior to demolition. ANT at old Chesapeake Bay Hall is approximately 5 square and approximately 10 from lid to bottom. Septic tanks at York River Hall is approximately 11 long, 7 wide and 8 deep. Demolition permit is to be provided by VIMS. Permits such as road closure permits are to be provided by Contractor if required during construction. Radioactive rooms will be cleared prior to demolition. We anticipate the Contractor will dispose of generators. We have neither an immediate need, nor storage area for the generators. Structure to be demolished to includes slabs, walls, and footings. Any piles encountered are to be broken off at interface with footings; See this and other General Demolition notes on C300. The tree at the North corner (based on the compass arrow on the drawings) of Project 268-18281-001 is to be protected and remain. If there is a concern of damage to the tree during demolition, this is to be discussed with the Owner. Trees outside the LOD are not anticipated to be at risk, and will not be damaged. Other trees should have reasonable care taken to avoid damaging. Any potential loss concerns should be discussed with Owner during demolition. Protective fencing is required, but screening of the work is not required. It is our desire to keep the Visitor Circle open. It is understood that there will be periods that the circle will need to be closed for safety, though these should be minimized. Access will be coordinated upon award of contract. To clarify, most if not all of the bollards are light fixture bollards, and they are not removeable. It is intended to keep some of the bollard lights intact. It is understood that some may be collateral damage due to the proximity of the building. General care should be take to avoid damage, but protective measures are not anticipated. Please see C300 to determine which bollards should be demoed. The completed Pre-Bid Sign in Sheet is provided as an attachment to this Addendum. The area of demolition is a highly sensitive archaeological area. Demolition of the main building will not be monitored; however, archaeological staff will be on site during demolition of below grade structures. This work is not anticipated to be impacted, since the original construction work on the initial site work impacted the overall site, however care must be taken not to exceed original construction areas. Archaeological staff will be in a monitoring role only. If a concern arises, the Owner will coordinate resolution with the Contractor. Question Deadline 03/24/2025 at 5:00 PM ET
