Sealed bids are invited for the demolition of Virginia Department of Transportation Coleman Bridge Toll Plaza Demolition and Rehabilitation at 1363 George Washington Memorial Highway, Gloucester Point, VA 23062. The project is generally described as the demolition of the Coleman Bridge Toll Plaza on US 17 north of Coleman Bridge in Gloucester Point, Virginia. The general scope of work will include but is not limited to the demolition and removal of the toll plaza and subsequent rehabilitation of the remaining tunnel and adjacent administration building exterior. The work will also be executed while allowing free-flow movement of vehicular traffic through the existing toll plaza. Bidders are required to submit sealed electronic bids and must be registered vendors in eVA. A five percent bid bond is mandatory, submitted via the Commonwealth of Virginia Standard Bid Bond, Form CO-10.2. Procedures for submitting a bid, claiming an error, withdrawal, and other pertinent guidelines are provided in the Instructions to Bidders. Bidders are responsible for visiting the site to ascertain pertinent local conditions and must submit any questions regarding the IFB in writing, using the specified form and adhering to the deadlines stated. The contractor must comply with requirements set out in the project documents, including health and safety regulations, and the provision of a drug-free workplace. All requests for extra work must be provided in writing prior to execution. The contract will be awarded on a lump sum basis for the Total Base Bid Amount, with possible inclusion of Additive Bid Items as selected by the Owner.
