Renovation of a transportation facility in Seatac, Washington. Completed plans call for the renovation of a transportation facility.
The Port of Seattle's Public Art program is seeking one (1) qualified multi-disciplinary visual artist or artist team to submit their qualifications to be considered for a permanent art commission within Seattle Tacoma International Airport's C Concourse. The proposed artworks should harmonize with the aesthetic of the facility and the redevelopment design, ensuring that they not only enhance the environment but also reflect thoughtful considerations for long-term maintenance and conservation. Given the diverse international audience frequenting the airport, these artworks must be suitable for public presentation and designed to engage passengers of all ages through interactive elements. In addition, the concept of a sensory room is integral to this initiative. This specially designed space will provide travelers with a controlled, immersive sensory experience, promoting relaxation and stress relief. It will serve as a therapeutic resource for individuals with sensory processing disorders, disabilities, and cognitive conditions, ensuring that the airport is inclusive and supportive of all visitors. Art should be safe for the passengers using this space and be made with ability to be interacted with by passengers. This is the second sensory room at SEA and there are multiple airports across the country that have sensory rooms (PDX, MSP, MCI, PIT, MIA, ATL) online. Amount: $100K Goal: No goal (WMBE and Small businesses are encouraged to participate and pursue as the prime)
