The City of Anaheim ("Anaheim") Public Utilities Department ("APU") provides electric and water service to approximately 360,000 residents and 15,000 businesses located in Anaheim. Established as a city-owned, not-for-profit utility in 1894, APU remains the only municipal electric utility in Orange County. APU's system delivers electricity to a diverse customer base, including sports and manufacturing businesses, as well as 25 million annual visitors, across a 50-square-mile service area. With over 700 megawatts ("MW") of generation capacity, APU supports a peak demand of more than 593 MW and an annual usage of 2.6 billion kilowatt-hours. Operating within the CAISO Balancing Authority Area and the LA Basin Local Reliability Area, APU maintains a strong financial standing, governed by a Public Utilities Board and City Council, with an AA+ credit rating from S&P and Fitch. Anaheim seeks a PPA with an initial term of a minimum of 10 years, with the option for up to two 10-year extensions. However, Anaheim remains open to considering alternative term structures that align with its operational needs.
