Highland County, Virginia is soliciting sealed bids for concrete and grading work located at solid waste compactor sites in McDowell and Headwaters. Bids will be taken under consideration by the Board of Supervisors prior to the announcement of the award. No electronic or faxed bids will be considered. Bids received after the time and date for receipt of bids, will not be considered. The work includes but is not limited to site improvement and grading; concrete forming and pouring; and some welding The McDowell site will require - 1. Demolition of retaining wall facing Rt. 250 & 1/2 height retaining wall facing VDOT. 2. Footers totaling 110 lineal feet by 3' width, 8'' thick, reinforced and 3,000 PSI mix. 3. Retaining wall totaling 58 lineal feet by 8' height, 8'' thick, reinforced and 4,000 PSI mix. Note - match existing brick form for appearance. 4. Curbs totaling 80 lineal feet by 2' width, reinforced and 4,000 PSI mix. Note - poured to 8'' above slab elevation. 5. A pad 13' 6'' feet by 44' feet, 8'' thick, reinforced and 4,000 PSI mix. The Headwaters site will require - 1. Demolition of existing concrete slab. 2. Footers totaling 80 lineal feet by 3' width, 8'' thick, reinforced and 3,000 PSI mix. 3. Curbs totaling 80 lineal feet by 2' width, reinforced and 4,000 PSI mix. Note - poured to 8'' above slab elevation. 4. A pad 13' 6'' feet by 52' feet, 8'' thick, reinforced and 4,000 PSI mix. Each site will be considered separately, please place bid in an envelope clearly marked "McDowell Compactor Site" or "Headwaters Compactor Site." Contractors may bid on one or both sites as long as the bids are submitted separately. Work will begin in the spring of 2025.
