Building Description: Experiential hands-on learning between students and faculty and staff is the cornerstone of the College of Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital. However, the current facility was constructed nearly 40 years ago, and the patient care and teaching facilities are no longer capable of meeting the current demands of the school's growing academic program. This revitalization of the teaching hospital will allow the facility to continue to provide timely, compassionate, and cutting-edge clinical care and support for more patients and clients. Moreover, a renovated and expanded facility is critical for the recruitment and retention of students, faculty, and veterinary technicians. Modernized facilities will allow optimization of educational interactions for faculty, students, and staff, improve the hospital environment experience for clients and patients as well as daily personnel, and ultimately provide the foundation for experiential education that is critical for preparing day-one competent and confident veterinary graduates. The scope is intended to include approximately 25,000 gsf of renovation to the existing space, as well as 32,000 gsf of expansion for small clinic and office support for a project total of 57,000 gsf of updated space.
