Renovation of a mixed-use development in West Des Moines, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility; and library.

The construction documents indicate that the project involves mechanical and electrical improvements at the West Des Moines Public Library and Public Safety Station 22. Mechanical System Upgrades at the West Des Moines Public Library include the removal and replacement of air handling units (AHUs), ductwork, and piping. New work includes the installation of a Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) and one (1) new AHU. The new HVAC equipment will be reconnected to existing building systems and will then be tested, balanced, and commissioned. BASE BID Library - $1, 870000 Public safety - $134,000.00 TOTAL $2,004,000.00 Electrical system modifications will include the relocation of an electrical panel, rerouting of circuits, and the connection of new mechanical equipment to power and control systems. Key components being installed at public safety station 22 include new rooftop-mounted energy recovery equipment, new ductwork, and new electrical connections as needed. All bids shall be made on the form furnished by the City through wdm.ionwave.net and shall be filed on or before the time specified above. Each proposal shall be electronically accompanied by a scanned copy of the bid bond or a scanned copy of a cashier's or certified check drawn on an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the bid. If a bid bond is submitted it must be on the form provided with the contract documents. A physical copy of the bid security will be required to be submitted to the City Clerk's Office by the apparent low bidder within 48 hours of the bid deadline. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price guaranteeing faithful performance of the contract and guaranteeing payment to all persons supplying labor and/or materials in the execution of the work provided for in the contract. Additionally the contractor must provide the City with a guarantee of maintenance of said improvement in the form of surety for a period of one (1) year from the time of acceptance by the City. Work on said project shall commence within ten (10) days of the written notice to proceed and shall be completed by April 17th, 2026. Liquidated damages in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500.00) per day will be assessed for each day that the work remains uncompleted after the end of the contract period. The City reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids and to waive any and/or all technicalities and/or all irregularities.
