Valley Junction Alleys - Phase 9, includes approximately 1,550 LF of Subdrain, 213 SY of Granular Surfacing and 2,175 SY of 6" PCC Pavement with 2,243 SY Modified Subbase. The project also includes Excavation, Construction Staking, Traffic Control, and other related items needed to complete the project. All bids shall be made on the form furnished by the City through wdm.ionwave.net and shall be filed on or before the time specified above. Each proposal shall be electronically accompanied by a scanned copy of the bid bond or a scanned copy of a cashier's or certified check drawn on an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the bid. If a bid bond is submitted it must be on the form provided with the contract documents. A physical copy of the bid security will be required to be submitted to the City Clerk's Office by the apparent low bidder within 48 hours of the bid deadline. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price guaranteeing faithful performance of the contract and guaranteeing payment to all persons supplying labor and/or materials in the execution of the work provided for in the contract. Additionally the contractor must provide the City with a guarantee of maintenance of said improvement in the form of surety for a period of four (4) years from the time of acceptance by the City. Work on said project shall commence within ten (10) days of the written notice to proceed and shall be completed by October 31, 2025. Each alley closure shall be limited to a consecutive four (4) week period. Liquidated damages in the amount of Five Hundred dollars ($500.00) per day will be assessed for each day that the work remains uncompleted after the October 31, 2025 completion date and for each day that an alley remains closed after the four (4) week closure period. The City reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids and to waive any and/or all technicalities and/or all irregularities.
