Construct High Gate Sanitary Sewer including all labor, materials and equipment necessary to construct approximately 2,266 linear feet of 12-inch sanitary sewer in opencut, excavation, backfill, connections to existing sewers, surface restoration, traffic control and miscellaneous work, including cleanup. Each proposal shall be electronically accompanied by a scanned copy of the bid bond or a scanned copy of a cashier's or certified check drawn on an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the bid. If a bid bond is submitted it must be on the form provided with the contract documents. A physical copy of the bid security will be required to be submitted to the City Clerk's Office by the apparent low bidder within 48 hours of the bid deadline. All bids shall be made on the form furnished by the City through wdm.ionwave.net and shall be filed on or before the time specified above. The bid security submitted should be made payable to the City of West Des Moines, Iowa, and not contain any conditions either in the body or as an endorsement thereon. This bid security is provided to the City of West Des Moines as security that if the bidder is awarded the contract by the City, the bidder will enter into a contract on the form provided by the City at prices bid and shall furnish the required performance and payment bond to the City. If the bidder fails to execute the contract and to furnish an acceptable performance and payment bond or provide a Certificate of Insurance within ten (10) days after acceptance of the bid by the City, the bid security may be forfeited or cashed by the City as liquidated damages. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price guaranteeing faithful performance of the contract and guaranteeing payment to all persons supplying labor and/or materials in the execution of the work provided for in the contract. Additionally the contractor must provide the City with a guarantee of maintenance of said improvement in the form of surety for a period of four (4) years from the time of acceptance by the City. Work on said project shall commence within ten (10) days of the written notice to proceed and shall be completed by October 17, 2025 Liquidated damages in the amount of Five Hundred dollars ($500.00) per day will be assessed for each day that the work remains uncompleted after the end of the contract period. The City reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids and to waive any and/or all technicalities and/or all irregularities.
