The pro-posed work is officially known as Sidewalk Improvements for the City of Casey, Illinois. The project shall consist of approximately 2,500 LF of sidewalk replacement. 1. J.U.L.I.E. shall be called at least two days prior to sidewalk construction. 2. Each bidder shall provide a certificate of insurance for general liability and automobile liability in the amount not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate. Bidder shall be required to provide theCity with an additional insured endorsement "listing theCity of Casey, and its elected officials, directors, officers and employees as an additional insured on a primary, and non-contributory basis. Each bidder shall be required to provide proof of workers' compensation insurance. TheContractor shall furnish theCity with Certificates of Insurance in the stated amounts. 3. Work on the project is subject to the Illinois Wages of Employees on Public Works Act (820 ILCS1300.01). Contractor shall not pay less than prevailing wages to all laborers, workman, and mechanics or any performing work under this project. 4. The quantities shown on the sidewalk list are approximate only and are subject to increase or decrease. 5. The contractor is responsible for all damages to residential property, and city property. Concrete sidewalks shall be constructed in accordance with the Illinois Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Road and BridgeConstruction. ADA Standards will apply to all sidewalks constructed. ADA detectable warning mats will be set at each ramp where the sidewalk meets the road, and or alley. All sidewalks will be four inches thick. Sidewalks through driveways will be six inches thick. Sidewalks will match the existing sidewalk widths. Traffic control and sidewalk closures should follow IDOT standards. TheCity of Casey can provide barricades and signs when needed. Removal: Contractor will replace sidewalks only one block at a time. Contractor will do one side of the road at a time from Main Street to East Edgar street. Contractor is responsible for removal and disposal of existing sidewalk . Subgrade: A new sub-base may be required if the soil in the subgrade is soft or spongy in places and will swell or shrink with changes in its moisture content. If a new sub-base is required, it shall consist of granular material and shall be spread to a depth of at least three (3) inches and three (3) inches and thoroughly compacted. While compacting the sub-base the material shall be thoroughly wet and shall be wet when the concrete is deposited but shall not show any pools of water. Concrete: Contractor shall refer to Section 423 and 424 in the Standard Specifications for Road and BridgeConstruction from the Illinois Department of Transportation for concrete placement. TheCity of Casey will provide the ADA detectable warning mats for ramps. The contractor is responsible for contacting the homeowner concerning curing times for individual driveways to allow for adequate curing time.
