Design and construction of the Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) Program infrastructure at Southport Aerospace Centre Inc. The infrastructure will support training of personnel, as well as storage and maintenance of aircraft. Plans include construction of three buildings: 1) A hangar and maintenance facility is developed as a one-story building of non-combustible construction to house the storage and maintenance of multiple aircraft with associated program spaces to include supply storage and warehouse, workshops, vehicle storage, offices, meeting rooms, training rooms and staff support functions. 2) A two-story Training Building will be a non-combustible construction type. The facility will house the classrooms, lockers, auditorium, offices, meeting rooms and staff support functions. The provision of rooftop mechanical platforms, size, and locations will be determined in the detailed design phase. Based on the size of the mechanical platforms, the building may be classified as a three-storey building. 3) A new one-storey Simulator Building is of non-combustible construction. The facility will house the simulators and the associated small and large briefing rooms. The provision of rooftop mechanical platforms, size, and locations will be determined in the detailed design phase. TIMELINE: Project is in design. An Advance Notice has been issued by EllisDon to notify the industry of the upcoming tender opportunity for Early Works Package (A). Early works construction is currently anticipated to commence Fall 2026, with building foundation work to begin early 2028, subject to project approvals. *Construction cost is unreleased.
