Phased dykeland system upgrades along the Chignecto Isthmus, which is located along the border between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. It is the only road and rail connection between the two provinces and is found near the Northumberland Strait and the Bay of Fundy. Scope of work includes: upgrades to existing dyke sections; construction of new dyke sections on the inland side of the existing alignment; construction of site access roads and associated works required for infrastructure operations and maintenance; and the development and restoration of natural infrastructure. TIMELINE: Plans are conceptual. The Chignecto Isthmus Climate Change Adaptation Engineering and Feasibility Study was completed by the Consultant in 2022. Request for Proposal for Owner's Engineer has been awarded. RFP for Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessment and Class D Remediation Estimate has been issued in a separate report. Further update may be available fall 2026. ***Value represents total estimated project costs.
