Site work and renovation of a civil project in Cranbrook, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.

The City of Cranbrook wishes to construct several water system upgrades which will improve the storage, treatment and distribution of water in their community. The construction of the system improvements will include the following: Phillips Reservoir Site Ultra-violet (UV) and 227 kg/d (500 Ibs/d) onsite sodium hypochlorite generation disinfection facility at the Phillips Reservoir with a capacity of 69 ML/d. Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) station rated to 46 ML/d. The proposed disinfection building's footprint is estimated to be 560 m2. Included in the scope is building supply and install, concrete works, process piping, yard piping, electrical, mechanical, miscellaneous instrumentation, and other ancillary works. Site works including a 600 mm temporary bypass pipe, 900 mm buried watermain and gravel access road. A hot tap and line stop are expected to be required on 750 mm PCCP pipe. Decommissioning and removal of existing 130 m2 treatment building. Replacement of the Phillips Reservoir dam's 750 mm low level outlet pipe and 600 mm isolation valve with a 900 mm pipe and isolation valve. Pipe to be replaced within a concrete tunnel located at the bottom of a 27 m tall earthen dam. Phillips Reservoir Diversion Structure and Gold Creek Supply Bypass Pipe SCADA and instrumentation upgrades to the Phillips Reservoir's Diversion Structure that will allow for automatically diverting turbid water from Gold and/or Joseph Creek to a bypass channel. Installation of a 2.4 km long and 650 mm diameter permanent bypass pipe to divert Gold Creek water from the Diversion Structure, around the Phillips Reservoir and directly to the proposed disinfection facility. The bypass pipe will provide the ability to isolate the Phillips reservoir and dam for maintenance activities without interrupting the City's water supply. Optional Work The City does not currently have funding available for the replacement of the Phillips Reservoir low level outlet pipe, valve replacement or the bypass pipe. This work will be developed as Optional Work which if the City is able to secure funding can be added to the CCDC 30 Contract.
