The Amherst County Public Schools will accept sealed bid for interior painting at the Monelison Middle School and Amherst Middle School. Bids are requested from qualified firms for interior painting and related preparations at the Monelison Middle School, located at 257 Trojan Road, Madison Heights, VA 24572 and Amherst Middle School, located at 165 Gordon's Fairground Road, Amherst, VA 24521. 1.1 Painting at Monelison Middle School can start once the contract has been awarded. Work that starts in the Spring of 2025 shall be completed in the evenings after school, weekends and during school breaks. Classrooms and areas that are painted during this time shall be ready for school the next day. Summer school will also be held in this facility beginning in June 2025 as these areas shall be painted first. 1.2 Painting at Amherst Middle School may begin once Monelison Middle School is complete. All work for Monelison Middle School shall be completed by midnight, June 30, 2025 and Amherst Middle School by midnight, August 2, 2025. The contractor shall be subject to a $500.00 per day penalty for each day after each deadline that any of the specified painting is not complete. The only justification for extensions of this date that will be considered are, unforeseen instances in which the facility would not be available to the successful bidder for the performance of work during the times described in Section 2.5 of this document. Bid Bond Each bid submitted shall be accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total base bid amount, from a surety company selected by the bidder that is authorized to do business in Virginia, as a guarantee that if the contract is awarded to the bidder, the bidder/contractor will enter into the contract for the work mentioned in the bid. Performance Bond The successful bidder shall provide a performance bond in the sum contract amount conditioned upon the faithful performance of the contract in strict conformity with the plans, specifications and conditions of the contract. Payment Bond The successful bidder shall provide a payment bond in the sum of the contract amount. The bond shall be for the protection of claimants who have and fulfill contracts to supply labor or materials to the prime contractor to whom the contract was awarded, or to any subcontractors, in furtherance of the work provided for in the contract, and shall be conditioned upon the prompt payment for all materials furnished or labor supplied or performed in the furtherance of the work.
