Renovation of a mixed-use development in Amherst, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a clubhouse / community center.
Installation: A. Existing windows to be removed from wooden frames which will not be recovered. Care must be taken not to damage existing wood components as some would require custom milling for replacement. Installer will be responsible for replacement of damaged wood components. B. New windows must be manufactured to the same size and appearance as existing windows and designed to sturdily fit in frames and support wind loads required by relevant building codes. Windows to be sealed to frame with highquality acrylic, silicone, paintable caulking. Both interior and exterior window frames shall be painted appropriately with colors to match existing to create an appearance of no disturbance of the window openings. C. Contractor will be responsible for removal and rehanging of window blinds. D. Contractor will be responsible for cleaning on new windows. E. Monroe Community Center Building will require replacement of the bottom window jambs which are currently wooden and will need to be replaced with treated wood in addition to the new window installations. Further details of the window replacement project will be discussed and addenda information issued, if deemed appropriate to do so. The successful bidder shall provide Amherst County with a performance bond in the sum of the contract amount conditioned upon the faithful performance of the contract, in strict conformity with the plans, specifications and conditions of the contract. The successful bidder shall provide Amherst County with a payment bond in the sum of the contract amount. The bond shall be for the protection of claimants who have and fulfill contracts to supply labor or materials to the prime contractor to whom the contract was awarded, or to any subcontractors, in furtherance of the work provided for in the contract, and shall be conditioned upon the prompt payment for all materials furnished or labor supplied or performed in the furtherance of the work. It is desired that all window installation activities be accomplished before June 30, 2025. The County will coordinate/cooperate with the contractor to schedule installation during relatively temperate weather conditions. Bids will only be accepted from parties in attendance at this meeting.
