Site work for a water / sewer project in Temecula, California. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

**As of June 10, 2025, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for the award has not yet been established.** Rancho California Water District (RCWD) is soliciting proposals from qualified firms to participate in a three-month Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Pilot Project. The purpose of this RFP is to identify and evaluate up to three (3) AMI technology providers capable of delivering innovative, reliable, and scalable solutions tailored to the District's operational needs and geographic challenges. The pilot project will involve the installation and testing of AMI systems on 51 residential and agricultural water meters located in the De Luz area of Temecula, California a region characterized by complex terrain and variable elevations. The primary goal is to assess the ability of proposed AMI solutions to: o Improve meter read success rates o Maintain or enhance billing accuracy o Support water use efficiency and conservation o Enable early detection of meter or communication failures o Offer a user-friendly customer portal for real-time usage monitoring As part of the pilot, proposers will be responsible for installing and integrating their fixed network AMI communication system, including collectors, repeaters, and any required backhaul infrastructure. RCWD will install and remove endpoint hardware on the meters (e.g., register-integrated transmitters or external endpoints), under the direction and supervision of the awarded vendor, to ensure proper system configuration and compatibility. In addition to performance testing, the pilot will evaluate each vendor's integration with RCWD's existing infrastructure, adaptability to the District's unique topography, and potential to enhance customer engagement and operational efficiency. Findings from this pilot will inform future decisions regarding a potential district-wide AMI deployment aligned with RCWD's long-term vision for sustainable and data-driven water management.
