This RFP is for a Hazardous Building Materials Survey to be conducted at the existing historic building Gem Theater located at 154 Laureate Wy, Kannapolis, NC. The survey will be conducted on the second-floor office area (+/- 1930 SF) along Laureate Wy and the third-floor projection and storage areas (+/- 700 SF). This survey is being requested in preparation for a future renovation project. The existing facility is 4 stories with a total +/- 24,700 SF. The structure was originally built in the 1940s and is predominately a mix of wood and masonry construction. Existing finishes include a mix of wood flooring, vinyl tile, plaster walls, drywall, wood ceilings, plaster ceilings, and other various materials. A complete survey of the project area should be made. Suspect materials include but are not limited to lead paint, VA tile and mastic, plaster, and other suspect asbestos containing construction materials. All interior materials should be accessible for testing with a short ladder. All questions regarding this RFP can be directed to the Bogle Firm Archiecture at 704-638-2015.
