Renovation of an educational facility in Newport News, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
The "Work" generally includes but is not limited to the following: Remove two existing 4000 amp, 480Y/277-volt, 3-Phase, 4-Wire, Main Distribution Switchboards and install two new 4000 amp, 480Y/277-volt, 3-Phase, 4-Wire, Distribution Switchboards. Disconnect all existing feeder conductors from the existing main distribution switchboards, extend and reconnect to the new branch circuit breakers in the new main distribution switchboards. General: The Contractor shall obtain and pay for all applicable permits, fees and charges, not specifically excluded from the Contract and not specifically indicated to be obtained and paid for by the Owner. Work Included: This Section applies to situations in which the Contractor or his representatives, including but not necessarily limited to suppliers, subcontractors, employees, and field engineers, enter upon the Owner's property. Restrict the access of all persons entering upon the Owner's property in connection with the work to the access route and to the actual site of the work. Employees of all Contractors shall be required to display a photo identification badge at all times while on Newport News School Board property. Prior to beginning work, the Contractor shall photograph or video tape all existing damage to building surfaces, finishes, furniture, equipment, and any other property left in the area of work. A copy of the record video, documentation, and photographs shall be provided to the Owner prior to beginning work. The Contractor shall be responsible for repair or replacement of all property damaged as a result of the Contractor's work. Should a dispute occur, the video tape, documentation, or photographs shall be used to settle the dispute. Any damage not documented shall be considered the Contractor's responsibility. Contractor shall verify the operation of all devices removed to facilitate the construction, including but not limited to speakers, clocks, motion detectors, smoke detectors, light fixtures, etc. TIME OF WOR - Construction work may be done between the hours of 6:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. Monday through Thursday and between the hours of 6:00 A.M and 4:00 P.M. Friday and Saturday. With a minimum of one weeks' notice to the Owner, and the Owner's approval, work may be done between the hours of 6:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. on Sunday. Project Construction Start Date: 06-15-2026 Substantial Completion: 07-15-2026 Final Completion: 08-01-2026. Bidders are highly encouraged to anticipate and plan for technical or heavy email transmission traffic at the last minute. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS- Remove and replace existing Main Distribution Switchboard at Woodside High School located at 13450 Woodside Lane., Newport News, Virginia 23608 hereafter referred to as the "Project." SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS- Contractor shall provide services in accordance with the Project Manual dated March 26, 2025 and associated Drawings dated March 26, 2025. In accordance with Commonwealth of Virginia 54.1-1115, A1 and A6; Contractor shall possess a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Contractor's Class A license as well ensure any subcontractors scheduled for the Project possess a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Contractor's license. In accordance with Commonwealth of Virginia 22.1-296.1; Contractor shall ensure all employees, subcontractors, representatives, (i) have not been convicted of a felony or any offense involving the sexual molestation of a child or physical abuse or sexual abuse or rape of a child; and (ii) has not been convicted of a crime of moral turpitude. To ensure reasonable emergency response, Contractor for this Project shall have an operational office Not more than 250 miles driving distance from the Project site. References about the Bidder's past performances must be ascertained prior to any bid being eligible for Award as specified in Attachment C, Contractor's Qualification Statement. Negative references or references that cannot verify whether the Contractor can meet the criteria specified in Section I. of this IFB, may be grounds for a bid being rejected. Immediately following the pre-bid conference, NNPS will conduct an Optional site visit. Question Deadline - 04/21/2025 at 3:00 PM ET - Submit questions regarding the Invitation for Bid in writing to the Issuing Office at shannon.bailey1@nn.k12.va.us. Necessary replies will be issued to all Bidders of record as addenda that shall become part of the contract documents. Oral instructions do not form a part of the bid documents. Bid Description: Submit Bids in a sealed envelope or package. Clearly label the shipping/mailing packaging as well as the outside of your sealed envelope or package with the Bid Item No., Closing Date and Time, and your firm's name and address. Bids received by telephone, telegraph, facsimile, or any other means of electronic transfer outside of Eva shall not be accepted. Bids will be received on or before the date and the hour and at the place stipulated in the Invitation to Bids as may be modified by subsequent Addenda. Purchasing Department operating hours are on the NNPS website at online. Owner may elect to award a contract to more than one vendor. . The Owner reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids in whole or in part and to waive any informalities in the process. Furthermore, the Owner reserves the right to enter into any contract deemed to be in the Owner's best interest.
