The Berlin and Cromwell Boards of Education operate a Transition Academy program located in space leased from the Meriden-New Britain-Berlin YMCA at 362 Main Street, Berlin. Part of the scope of a project funded by the Connecticut Community Challenge Grant Program (CCCGP) is to be used to make additional improvements at 362 Main Street for the Transitional Academy. The grant budget for both hard and soft costs for this portion of the CCCGP project is $405,356. Friar Associates prepared cost estimates (updated cost/scope estimates for construction cost and total cost dated 11-24 are attached, alternate renovation construction items are not planned to be completed at this time) for improvements at 362 Main Street that may be funded by the grant. In general terms, the scope of work for the project includes: 1. Convert closet into accessible shower room. 2. Paving outdoor parking lot. 3. Drainage improvements. 4. Remodel kitchen in front room (flooring, ceiling tiles, cabinets and add a stove) 5. Remove small sinks and cabinets in main room and add storage closets/cabinets. 6. Replace cabinets where medical supplies are kept. 7. Install 2 min-split systems. 8. New flooring in hallway, main room and back room. 9. Miscellaneous interior patching and painting. The expected duration of the project is 20 weeks
