Site work and paving for a road / highway in LaScie, Newfoundland. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
Closing Time: 12:00 PM (NT) Question Acceptance Deadline 2025/04/30 12:00:00 PM NDT Pulverize and Pave R414 La Scie and R370 Buchans The Work will be substantially performed within 4.0 months from the date of notification of award of contract or September 30, 2025, whichever is later. Contractors are advised the PROJECT shall include, but will not be limited to, the scope as outlined in the following summary. Part A: Pulverize and Pave 3.2 KMs, R370 Buchans Road from KM 40 to KM 43.2 to a RLU 70 Mod Standard. The scope of work includes replacement of existing road crossings and driveway pipes of various sizes ranging from 600mm to 1200mm. In addition, the contractor will be responsible for ditching (including off takes) as directed by the Owners' Representative. After pulverization, grading and compaction of the pulverized material, the contractor will be responsible for the placement and compaction of Class "A" granulars and a 50mm base course and 50mm surface course asphalt. Finally, the contractor will also be responsible for the placement and compaction of Class "B" shoulders along with some asphalt driveway tie-ins. Compensation for asphalt tie-ins will be as surface course asphalt. Part B: Pulverize and Pave 5.2 KMs, R414 La Scie Road from KM 33.4 to KM 38.6 to a RLU 80 Standard. The scope of work includes replacement of existing road crossings and driveway pipes of various sizes ranging from 600mm to 1000mm. In addition, the contractor will be responsible for clearing and ditching as directed by the Owners' Representative. After pulverization, grading and compaction of the pulverized material, the contractor will be responsible for the placement and compaction of Class "A" granulars and a 50mm base course and 50mm surface course asphalt. Finally, the contractor will also be responsible for the placement and compaction of Class "B" shoulders along with some asphalt driveway tie-ins. Compensation for asphalt tie-ins will be as surface course asphalt. In addition, the replacement of guide rail as directed by the Owner's Representative. Part C: Replace culvert at R417, Pacquet Road, km 3.2 the existing 21m of 2000mm diameter pipes, will be replaced with 21m of 2000mm diameter pipe, the height of fill is approximately 4m. The scope of work involves excavation of the OM fill to remove and dispose the existing culverts, installation of the new culverts, placement and compaction of the Class "B" granulars, Class "A" granulars and asphalt patching 1 lift at 50mm and Class A placed on shoulders and compacted. All work must be completed according to mitigation procedures outlined in Dept. of Transportation Specifications and DFO's "Guidelines for Protection of Freshwater Fish Habitat". Contractors are advised that temporary bypasses may be required during the construction and must be well maintained and accommodate traffic at all times and will be considered incidental to the work. In addition, the replacement of guide rail as directed by the Owner's Representative. Part D: Repair slope erosion on R415-11, km 0.4, Nippers Harbour Road, the height of fill to the bottom of the slope is estimated at 20 meters. The work involves carefully sliding of class III hydraulic rip rap down the slope until a satisfactory bench is made or may require building a bench before placement of rip rap and rock fill. Contractor shall be required to select angular rocks or rocks that will be less susceptible to rolling to slide down the slope. Upon satisfaction of the Owners Representative, supply and placement of rock fill will be placed from the Class III hydraulic rip rap bench to the top of the slope until suitable shoulder width is established. In addition to the supply and placement of rock fill, guide rail will be required to be removed and replaced and placement and compaction of Class B shoulders. A site visit is strongly recommended prior to bidding. For further information, please refer to the breakdown of quantities in the tender document and the updated Department's Specifications Book.
