West Sacramento shares the Sacramento River with neighboring Sacramento, with the deep water ship canal serving the Port of Sacramento. Incorporated in 1987, West Sacramento encompasses approximately 22 square miles, with a population just over 55,000. Alyce Norman-Bryte Playfields, located at 725 Todhunter Avenue in West Sacramento, California, is a 17-acre park that serves as a central hub for local youth sports and community activities. The park features four softball fields, three Little League diamonds, a tot lot, restrooms, play structures, picnic areas, a snack bar, and football facilities. In February 2024, the Sacramento River Cats and Sutter Health collaborated with the City of West Sacramento to renovate the softball backstop on field No. 4 at Alyce Norman Park, enhancing the safety and longevity of the field for youth softball programs. _ The park continues to be a vital community asset, hosting various events and programs that promote youth engagement and athletic development. The City of West Sacramento Parks and Recreation Department is inviting bids for sports field renovations at city sports fields and/or parks, with specifics to that of infield conversion from that of a little league baseball field to that of a softball/multi-use field. The scope of work outlined below covers, but is not limited to, any possible applicable work specific to this exact project and contract. Removal of existing infield dirt and grass to a depth of 4 inches; Removal of existing plates/anchors and home plate; Removal of any lips found in the infield /outfield transition area; Removal or "shelling out" of organic matter and soil found beneath existing infield turfgrass; Adjustment/renovation of infield irrigation to allow for proper adequate coverage of both new infield soil and out field turf, allowing for infield skin watering to be on dedicated zone separate from that of outfield turfgrass. NEW FIELD New field layout dimensions will be that of a 40/60 softball field; New infield material will be West Coast Sand and Gravel's infield mix or like in gradation; Tilling/blending of new infield material to a depth of four inches before final grading and compaction; New infield skin will be laser graded with a minimum of .5% fall to ensure proper drainage and be tied into existing grade creating a safe transition; Sodding of outfield/infield transition area where disturbed by lip removal and/or irrigation renovations with a hybrid Bermuda grass comparable to Tiff Tuff or Iron Cutter varieties; Installation of a new home plate six base anchors and one removable pitching rubber. One of those anchors will need to be a double first base anchor; Anchors will be placed at distances for a 40/60 baseball field and a 40/60 softball field; Application of infield conditioner; Any other additional field renovation work specified by The City of West Sacramento's Parks and Recreation Department or Capital Projects Department.
