Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a civil project in Topeka, Kansas. Design plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and road / highway.

As of June 26, 2025, an engineer has been selected for the project. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to February of 2026. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Shawnee County Board of County Commissioners has authorized the issuance of a "Request for Qualifications" from qualified consulting engineering firms interested in providing professional design and construction engineering services for Shawnee County Bridge Replacement : NE Calhoun Bluff Road over Old Indian Creek (located immediately south of US Hwy 24 and 1.2 miles west of Hwy K-4). SCOPE OF WORK Prepare engineering plans, bidding documents and cost estimates, as necessary, to remove Shawnee County Bridge No. 227 and replace it with a designed closed conduit drainage structure capable of conveying a 100 year storm event and not having a negative impact on the Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way embankment located immediately downstream. Prepare and submit all necessary applications for permits required by the Corps of Engineers, State of Kansas Department of Agriculture, Division of Water Resources and any other Federal or State Agency with permitting authority over rivers and streams in the State of Kansas. Assist the Shawnee County Department of Public Works with Utility Coordination as defined in the Shawnee County Design Criteria, latest edition. Provide Construction Engineering Services Plans shall be prepared in accordance with Shawnee County / City of Topeka Design Standards and Technical Specifications, latest edition and KDOT Standard Specifications for Roads and Bridges, latest edition for letting by Shawnee County Department of Public Works. Notice to Proceed June 2025 Field Check Plans & Cost Estimate to SNCO September 2025 Field Check Utility Plans to Utility Companies September 2025 Permits Submitted to Corps of Engineers & KS DWR September 2025 Office Check Plans and Cost Estimate to SNCO November 2025 Final Plans, Bidding Documents and Engineers Estimates to SNCO December 2025 SNCO Bid Letting January 2026 Construction Administered by SNCO February thru June 2026 All questions regarding this bid should be posted on the online Electronic Bid System.
