The Centre for Education is the head office of the Edmonton Public School Division. The building was constructed in the early 1980's, and naturally with its age, some of its building envelope components have deteriorated. As a result, the building has encountered some water infiltration through its substructure and superstructure. The intent with this project is to restore the failing building envelope components within the roof system, underground parkade structure, and exterior walking plaza. The scope of work is multifaceted. It involves (but is not limited to) the following: The replacement of the entire building roof system, as well as the balconies walking paver roof system. The repairs / replacement of the exterior walking paver plaza deck on the main floor surrounding the north and west faces of the building, as well as the front entrance area. The demolition / replacement of the exterior front entrance concrete stairs. Upgrades to the building mechanical system to include glycol snowmelt lines to be installed inside the new front entrance concrete stairs and front plaza deck.
