MBE Participation (%) 25 The purpose of this project is to refurbish two existing treatment cells of the Railroad Street passive treatment system. The cells will be revamped by adding new limestone and piping to improve the effectiveness of the system in treating the existing acid mine discharges. The project will include removing all existing compost, metal precipitate, and unusable limestone and burying it in excavated pits. A new liner and limestone will be placed into the cells. As the limestone is being placed, new perforated header pipes will be installed at the locations and levels within the beds as shown on the construction plans. All existing valves and water level control structures will be abandoned and replaced with Agridrains for flushing and water level regulation. The project also includes upgrading the existing emergency spillways and improving the access road as necessary for ingress and egress of construction and supply vehicles. The VSBE subcontracting participation goal for this Solicitation is: 0% The proposed work will involve, at a minimum, but not limited to, the following: 1.1.1 The removing and disposal of sludge, compost, unspent limestone, pipes, liner and other materials from the existing acid mine drainage treatment cells. 1.1.2 The excavation of pits at a designated sludge disposal area. 1.1.3 The addition of new liner, cushion fabric, high calcium carbonate limestone, piping, and Agridrains to the treatment cells. 1.1.4 The improvement, as necessary of the existing access roadway and upgrade of the emergency spillways. 1.1.5 The removal of trees and bushes in and around the existing ponds, spillways, and embankments. 1.1.6 Submittals for substitutions shall be after the award only. 1.1.7 An Inspector's field office is not required for this contract The PROJECT CLASSIFICATION for this solicitation is: "C" ($500,000 to $1,000,000). *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. The work shall be completed within 120 calendar days from the start date of the contract. If the work is not completed within the time period specified, the contractor will be liable for liquidated damages of $550 per calendar day as specified in the "General Conditions."
