Renovation of a residential development in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 2,930-square-foot residential development.
Shingle Roof Replacement at the Gloucester Housing Authority Main Office Building. The Work of the Contract consists of Replacement of approximately 2,930 square feet of asphalt shingle roofing at the GHAs Main Office Building, including all related work as shown on the Drawings and Project Manual, including but not limited to the following: 1. Remove and dispose of all existing shingle roofing at all roof surfaces, as indicated on the drawings, including all associated felt paper, ice sheets, flashing, metal work, etc. down to the existing wood substrate. Existing roof sheathing shall be re-nailed after stripping off existing shingles. NOTE WELL: Existing roof shingles and leak barriers (ice & water sheets) along roof edges shall be carefully removed, cleaned, and prepared as required for installation of new leak barrier in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. To facilitate removal work, the Contractor may elect to cut-out existing roof sheathing along roof edges and replace with new sheathing to match existing at no additional cost to the owner. 2. Check all roof sheathing and replace where necessary as directed by the architect, for bidding purposes, assume replacement of 128 square feet (4 sheets of plywood) of deteriorated plywood roof sheathing. Refer to section 01.22.00 - Unit Prices where scope and description of unit prices to the contract requirements are given. 3. Furnish and install new self-adhering leak barrier - 2 courses at all roof eaves and over entire roof surface at low entry roof and rear low-slope shed roof as shown on the drawings. 4. Furnish and install new asphalt roof shingles, aluminum drip edges, roofing felt, vent collars, ridge vents, and all related work as shown on the drawings. 5. Replacement of all deteriorated wood trim as shown on the drawings. 6. Re-nail/Re-fasten existing aluminum cladding as required at all eave fascia, rakes, and soffits. 7. Remove and dispose of existing abandoned satellite dish and steel roof mount as shown on the drawings. B. All areas are to be swept clean of nails and debris. C. Disposal of all items above at a legal off-site dump in accordance with all laws, ordinances, rules and regulations pertaining to the disposal of materials from the job site. D. The restoration of any items damaged or destroyed by encroaching upon areas outside of the project site. Contractor shall protect shrubs and plants around the buildings during the work as required. E. Providing and restoring, where appropriate, all temporary facilities. F. All Work either shown on the drawings or included in the specifications unless specifically indicated as not to be done. G. In addition, the Work under the Contract includes: 1. Work outside the Project Site as called for in the Contract Documents and as required for the performance of the Work. 2. The restoration of any items damaged or destroyed by encroaching upon areas outside the Project Site. 3. Providing and restoring, where appropriate, all temporary facilities. H. The site/building will be occupied and open to the public during construction. The Contractor shall take all necessary precautions to ensure the public safety and convenience of the occupants and visitors during construction. . The Work must be completed in a continuous uninterrupted operation. The Contractor must use sufficient personnel and adequate equipment to complete all the necessary Work requirements within a minimum period of time. J. The Contractor is responsible for the security of partially completed Work until the Final Acceptance of Work by the Awarding Authority. K. Only materials and/or equipment intended and necessary for immediate use shall be brought into the Project area. At the end of each workday and at the completion of each phase of Work, equipment and leftover or unused materials shall be removed from the area. L. Smoking is not permitted on site or in buildings/facilities.
