Renovation of a power facility in Hallam, Nebraska. Completed plans call for the renovation of a power facility.
Bids not in accordance with "Instruction to Bidders" in the Contract Documents may be rejected. All bids must be accompanied by a certified check, irrevocable letter of credit, or bid bond, or a term bid bond must be on file with the DISTRICT. The DISTRICT will award the Contract to the responsible Bidder(s) who submit(s) the lowest and best bid(s), or it may reject all bids 334-0338 The Contract work scope is being performed on Sheldon Station's Unit 2 Boiler; a Babcock & Wilcox (B&W), positive pressure, naturally circulating radiant boiler; (RB-338) (Form P-3 Data Report ID 334-0338 with an in services year 1961). The unit is designed to supply a main steam flow of 830,000 lbs/hr at 1,005 with a drum operating pressure of 2,025 psig, and a reheat steam flow of 600,000 lbs/hr at 1,005. The boiler is currently firing with natural gas for start-up with normal operation firing using Power River Basin coal. The pressurized boiler (booster fan added with baghouse) has a balance point after the boiler and configured with tangent (no membrane) wall tubes with 100% exterior casing for gas seal. The unit is fired using three (3), nine (9) feet cyclone furnaces, which discharge into the primary furnace. The cyclone combustion process results in most of the coal ash constituents being removed as wet / molten ash that exits the cyclone through and opening in the furnace front wall and runs across the floor to an opening in the floor (slag tap), where it drops into a water filled slag tank. In the slag tank, the ash is quenched to a solid form to allow for removal. The boiler was designed and placed into service before the technology was available to build fully membraned furnaces. The fire side of the boiler operates at positive pressure, so the furnace walls and floor have hot casing (metal casing on the back side of the boiler tubes) that creates a flew gas enclosure to contain and seal the flue gas in it flow path. Insulation and lagging is placed over the top of the hot casing to insulate over the hot surfaces, providing personnel protection and improve efficiency. For reference to operation, the boiler is subjected routinely to explosive cleaning and highpressure water cleanings twice a year to maintain performance. The nominal boiler dimensions in the location of tube replacement is 32'-0" wide (left hand sidewall (LHSW) to right hand sidewall (RHSW)) with a depth of 12'-0" (front wall (FW) to baffle wall (BW)). The CONTRACTOR shall provide all supervision, labor, equipment, incidental materials, and consumables to perform the work scope as outlined in the Contract documents. The work includes CONTRACTOR'S removal of original materials and installation of new DISTRICT supplied materials at the Sheldon Station Unit 2 boiler to include: Reheat Superheater (RHSH) replacement including the entire inlet, intermediate, and outlet sections. The inlet and intermediate sections each include 80 panels with three (3) circuits each and the outlet section includes 60 panels with four circuits. All RHSH support castings Replacement of the reheat inlet and outlet refractory seals. Replacement of the boiler front wall casing along with the RH Inlet Header vestibule and the combined vestibule for both the RH and SSH Outlet Headers. Replacement of twelve (12) each thermocouples on both the RHSH outlet and SSH outlet tubes.
