Renovation of an educational facility in Rootstown, Ohio. Design plans call for the renovation of a 3,000-square-foot educational facility.

As of November 12, 2025, an engineer has been selected, and the project is currently in the design phase. Design completion is projected for late spring 2026, with bidding anticipated to begin around the same time. Construction is expected to start in early summer 2026 and conclude by summer 2028. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The purpose of this project is to completely replace and upgrade NEOMED's central chilled water plant and also add emergency (back-up) power to part of the plant. The existing chilled water system has a peak demand of 1,000 cooling tons and is served by two Trane chillers. The first chiller was installed in 1991 and has an 850-ton capacity. The second chiller was installed in 2002 and has a 750-ton capacity. The chillers are piped in parallel and serve a range of cooling coils and chilled water loops through Buildings A, B, C, D, E, F, R, V (CMU), and others. The chilled water system utilizes three existing 75 HP chilled water pumps located adjacent to the chillers. An original engineering study concluded that the replacement of the existing plant will incorporate an addition onto the existing M-120 mechanical room to house new chillers. This plan would make use of three (3) new 500-ton chillers. The two existing chillers would be de-commissioned and abandoned in place for future removal if funding is not adequate to support removal. Preliminary studies indicate that the new addition should be approximately 3,000 SF in order to house the new chillers, chilled water pumps, and associated system appurtenances. Note there may be bid alternates incorporated into this project that involve adding emergency power to the chilled water plant and upgrading the campus fire pump from diesel to electric. The selected design team will have experience in the design & construction administration of similar HVAC renovation/replacement projects. The selected A/E, as a portion of its required Scope of Services and prior to submitting its proposals, will discuss and clarify with the Owner and/or the Contracting Authority, the cost breakdown of the Architect/Engineer Agreement detailed cost components to address the Owner's project requirements. As required by the Agreement, and as properly authorized, provide the following categories of services: Program Verification, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Document Preparation, Bid and Award Support, Conformed Documents, Construction Administration, Post-Construction, and Additional Services of all types. Total Project Cost: $5,500,000 Anticipated Schedule Construction Notice to Proceed: 01 / 26 Professional Services Completed: 07 / 27
