Central Tunnel - Package 1 (Signal Upgrades), Boston, MA Signal Improvements Bid Advertisement expected 5/28/2025 A. The work under this contract will be conducted on the MBTA Green Line's Central subway from the limits of North Station to Kenmore and the portal located at Northeastern. B. There are limited points of access to the site and limited availability of onsite areas for excavated material storage, material storage, equipment storage, temporary material laydown, construction staging, and worker parking. C. In general, the work shall include Signal Work, Communication Work, Electrical Work and Site Work. D. Signal Work: The Signal Work shall include design, furnish and installation of wayside signal equipment, signal control cases, signal equipment racks, cables, junction boxes, conduit, messenger, cable trays, and all other elements that comprise the signal system shown on the contract documents. Additional work includes tie-ins to the existing system, testing and commissioning of new signal systems, and the demolition of the retired components and cable from the existing signal system E. Communications Work: The Communication Work shall include procurement and installation of fiber optic cable, splice enclosures, conduit, messenger, cable trays, and all other elements that comprise the fiber optic network shown on the contract documents. F. Electrical Work: The Electrical Work shall include furnishing and installing 480V AC single phase electric services to new signal control cases, and central instrument room (CIR), as well as 120V AC hotel power to each case and CIR from existing substations or electrical rooms as designated in the contract drawings. Additional work includes modifications to the traction power system for sub-sectionalization of existing power sections to support the de energization of catenary power above designated high rail layover and equipment laydown areas within the contract work limits. G. Carpentry Work: The Carpentry Work shall include the construction of planking materials to be installed and removed on the track structure in select areas to assist with hi rail operations. H. Site Work: The site Work shall include excavation and excavated material characterization, storage, and disposal, fill, fencing, miscellaneous site improvements, and other associated work. Question Deadline 06/26/2025 Questions are to be submitted no later than ten (10) days prior to the date set forth for the opening of the bids
