Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in False Pass, Alaska. Conceptual plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; transportation facility; and water / sewer project.

False Pass Airport Rehabilitation The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is proposing to rehabilitate the existing facilities at the False Pass Airport. DOT&PF has informed the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Alaska Region Airports Division of their intent to apply for federal funding assistance for the proposed project. The proposed work includes the following activities: o Resurfacing Runway 14/32, taxiway and apron o Resurfacing the airport access road and replace roadway guardrail and signage o Installing or replacing airfield signage as necessary o Adding retro reflective markers to the movement area o Replacing the supplemental wind cone (in-kind replacement) o Replacing the segmented circle and wind cone (in-kind replacement and movingsegmented circle up to 10 feet to be outside the Runway Object Free Area [ROFA]) o Build new wind cone access road and the segmented circle pad o Install a new access road to the supplemental wind cone o Address bridge abutment and streambank erosion at crossing over Roundtop Valley Creek o Vegetation clearing of the ROFA o Implementing drainage improvements (e.g., culvert repair, ditch reconditioning, rock armoring, etc.) o Rehabilitate RW 32 end o Replace airport and airport access road culverts and improve drainage ditches as necessary o Establish contractor staging area adjacent to the apron (2 acres) Field studies were conducted during the summer and fall of 2024 and are anticipated to continue into the spring of 2025. Construction is anticipated to begin as early as summer of 2027. False Pass does not participate in the National Flood Insurance Program. The project is adjacent to Isanotski Strait and erosion protection activities would be constructed in Round Top Valley Creek; however, DOT&PF anticipates no significant encroachments or net changes to base flood elevations.
