Genesee County owns and operates the Genesee County Airport in Batavia, NY. The County is seeking contractors to retrofit worn out insulation in the Mercy Flight Corporate Hangar. The Hangar is a pre-engineered metal building and was constructed in 2003. The batt insulation coating is failing and flaking on aircraft within the hangar. This is an undesirable condition and the County would like to recover or reline the failing insulation to encapsulate the debris. The hangar is a 70 ft by 70 ft metal building with 24 foot side walls. The north side of the building includes a 20 ft high x 60 ft wide bi-fold door. The entire bi-fold door requires recovering as well. The east and west sidewalls are 24 feet high, with the first 8 feet above finished floor being covered in metal wall liner panels. The south wall is drywall to the roof deck and encloses office and sleeping space for shift pilots. The west sidewall interior dimensions are 48 feet and the east sidewall length is 54 feet. The ceiling/roof area is approximately 3,500 SF. All critical devices such as junction boxes, alarms, sensors, door controls, detectors and skylights are intended to remain uncovered. The liner system may be tight to the existing insulation batts over the purlins (to discourage bird nesting). As long as critical devices remain accessible, either method of attachment may be used. All installations shall be fastened and taped to establish a secure vapor barrier. The contractor shall be responsible for coordinating with both the owner as well as the tenant. Contact information for both are included in the master spec. Genesee County performs its own code enforcement and no building permits are necessary.
