Renovation of a library in Middleborough, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a library.
Each Bid and Filed Sub-Bid must be accompanied by a bid security consisting of a BID BOND, CASH, or, CERTIFIED CHECK issued by a responsible bank or trust company in the amount of 5% of the bid price. A performance bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of the total amount of the contract price with a surety company qualified to do business in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will be required for the faithful performance of the contract, as well as a labor and materials bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of the total contract price. General Bidders category of certification: HVAC; filed sub-bidders category of certification: Electrical. Selection of the contractor will be based upon bidder qualifications, including evidence of past performance in similar projects, and bid price. The contract will be awarded to the bidder deemed by the awarding authority to be the lowest responsible and eligible bidder. The bidder agrees that its bid shall be good and may not be withdrawn for a period of 30 days, Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays excluded, after the opening of the bids. The Town reserves the right to waive any informalities, to accept or reject, in whole or in part any or all bids, or take whatever other action may be deemed to be in the best interest of the Town. Every request for such interpretation should be in sent in writing via email to surettee@middleboroughma.gov. To be given consideration, requests for interpretation must be received at least seven (7) days prior to the date fixed for the opening of bids The work to be done under this contract consists of the following: 1. HVAC Renovations at Middleborough Public Library: a. HVAC work includes: 1) Base Bid: Replace existing air-cooled chiller, air handler AHU-3 and associated inline return fan, replace existing controls throughout, provide new Building Management System, provide new roof mounted Energy Recovery Ventilator unit, provide new condensing boiler, replace all hot water and chilled water hydronic pumps and associated mechanical equipment. 2) Add. Alt. 1: Replace existing air handler AHU-1 and associated inline exhaust fan. 3) Add. Alt. 2: Replace all existing hot water fan powered boxes, hot water unit heaters, hot water fin tube radiation, and hot water cabinet unit heaters. b. Plumbing work includes: 1) Base Bid: Adding new gas piping to the new HVAC boiler and connecting to the existing gas service. All gas piping, shut off valves, dirt leg tees and unions. Adding new water piping and (2) new RPZ's for the HVAC make up water supply and connect to the existing domestic water supply. Provide new intake and exhaust flues for the existing to remain boiler as well as the proposed new HVAC boiler. c. Electrical work includes: 1) Base Bid: Adding additional panelboards as needed to accommodate proposed HVAC renovations. All circuit breakers, branch circuitry, disconnects, and equipment connections will be included within this scope of work. Existing panelboards shall be furnished with new circuit breakers as indicated on drawings to accommodate proposed new HVAC equipment. Electrical contractor shall disconnect and make safe all electrical equipment associated with mechanical equipment indicated to be removed as part of the base bid scope by the mechanical contractor. The electrical contractor shall remove all electrical equipment (including disconnects, starters, junction boxes, wireways, wiring and appurtenances) associated with HVAC equipment indicated for removal as part of the base bid scope.
