This Request for Sealed Bids (RFB) is for the purpose of contracting with a qualified firm to Provide all labor, equipment, appurtenances, and materials necessary for the identification, replacement, and restoration of lead and galvanized pipe water services within the Village of Cary. Water services will be examined by exploratory excavation, then replaced with approved materials using horizontal directional drilling construction methods as well as open cut methods, as approved by the Village. This work may include securing State and local permits, HMA and concrete pavement removal and replacement; trench excavation; bedding and backfill; installation of new water services from the b-box into private residences; installation of new water services from curb stop and b-box to building; installation of new service tap into main (when necessary); installation of new service from main to b-box (when necessary); landscape restoration; site restoration; traffic control; testing and all other work necessary for complete and functional water service replacement installations meeting Village standards as shown, specified, or required. 05/07/2025 Contractor Questions Submitted via Email to cward@caryillinois.com by 12:00 PM Water services will be examined by exploratory excavation, then replaced with approved materials using horizontal directional drilling construction methods as well as open cut methods, as approved by the Village. Directional drilling is the preferred method, open cut will only be approved on a conditional basis where directional drilling method cannot be achieved. This work may include securing State and local permits, HMA and concrete pavement removal and replacement; trench excavation; bedding and backfill; installation of new water services from the b-box into private residences; installation of new water services from curb stop and bbox to building; site restoration including pavement and concrete replacement, and landscaping; traffic control; testing and all other work necessary for complete and functional water service replacement installations meeting Village standards as shown, specified, or required. The Contractor is responsible for restoration to decorative landscaping material disturbed due to construction activities, at no cost to the Village. The cost to provide new service shall include all materials and apparatuses including coupling, increase/reducer fittings, b-boxes, valves, etc. All existing 1" services must be replaced with new 1" services and all existing 2" services must be replaced with new 2" services. New services must be run into the house connecting to existing plumbing at the first shutoff valve or 18 inches inside the building. A functional ball valve shall be installed inside the house prior to the new connection from service to interior plumbing. If the existing ball valve prior to the meter is in good working condition, new ball valve will not be required. The Village requires Mueller brass Minneapolis style b-boxes, and apparatuses or equal as approved by the Village. Service lines should use Cambridge lee copper or equal as approved by the Village. Each new service shall receive a new b-box. The Contractor is responsible for procuring and installing a new b-box and curb stop at each location.
