Demolition, site work, paving, new construction and addition to a mixed-use development in Port Angeles, Washington. Completed plans call for the addition of a 23,200-square-foot educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; for the construction of a 847,263-square-foot, three-story above grade educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
The Port Angeles Middle School Modernization and Addition is the modernization of the existing 23,200SF gym building and a new ground up 84,7263SF 3- story middle school. Once the modernization and additions are complete the existing classroom building and portables will be abated and demolished followed by extensive site improvements. Upgrades and New Construction Include: Existing Gym Extensive seismic upgrades New MEP systems and equipment New roofing, new athletic bleachers, and upgraded interior athletic spaces/offices & finishes New Classroom Building Learning spaces, admin offices, commons, MEP service rooms, music, library, and kitchen Extensive exterior canopy structure Site Significant site clearing, earth movement, utilities, and site upgrades including bio-retention ponds New service yard, parking, bus loop, outdoor learning areas, and commons/entry plazas ROW work at North Alley and D street This work will occur during summer months and the school year(s) while the existing classroom building is fully occupied until the new classroom building is complete as well as phased occupancy of the existing gym and site. Duration 5/2025 - 9/2025 Phase 1B - Site, ROW, Existing Gym (partial): ROW work @ North existing alley, D Street, & structural upgrades to existing gym exterior foundation. Duration 6/2025 – 9/2025 Phase 2 - New Classroom Bldg.: New classroom building, service yard, exterior site improvements, temp parent/bus drop off, and temp staff parking. Duration 8/2025 – 2/2027 Phase 3A - Existing Gym (remainder): Existing main gym and auxiliary gym seismic upgrades, new MEP systems and equipment, new roofing, new athletic bleachers, and upgraded interior athletic spaces & finishes. Duration 4/2026 – 11/2026 Phase 3B - Abate & demo existing classroom building and portables. Duration 2/2027 – 4/2027 Phase 4 - Site Improvements: New parking & bus drop-off, commons plaza, entry plaza, primary canopy, and existing field modernization. Duration 5/2027 – 9/2027
