The Yale Public School District is requesting bids for flooring installation according to the enclosed specifications and instructions. All bids shall be valid for not less than 90 days from the due date. Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive omissions, irregularities or clerical errors not affecting substantial compliance with the plans and specifications. Buildings are available for inspection prior to bid submission by contacting Director of Operations, Jared Shutko. All material(s) used in this project must be asbestos free. Smoking or use of tobacco products is not allowed in the school buildings or on district property according to State of Michigan law and district guidelines. SCOPE OF WORK: 3.1 Where required, remove and dispose of old carpeting, tile and base in accordance with all applicable ordinances, law and regulation. If shoe molding is present, remove with care and reinstall after carpet installation. 3.2 Prepare the floor to receive new products in accordance with the Manufacturer's instructions. Repair minor holes, cracks, depressions and rough areas using materials recommended by the tile and/or adhesive manufacturer. Where removed carpeting will be replaced with vinyl floor tile, include the cost of a leveling course of floor stone in your proposal. If this allowance is not needed, the cost is to be credited back to the Owner. 3.3 Commencement of installation constitutes acceptance of surface condition(s) by the flooring contractor. 3.4 Flooring shall be glued to new or existing surface. Adhesives shall be water-resistant, non-staining as recommended by flooring manufacturer, which complies with flammability requirements for installed flooring. After laying, lightly roll the entire floor to eliminate air pockets and ensure a uniform bond. 3.5 Install new rubber base in all areas where tile abuts walls, columns, pilasters, casework or other permanent fixtures in the room / area. Base thickness shall be .080. 3.6 Tile color(s) to be selected by the owner. Please enclose a manufacturer's standard size sample of materials showing a full range of colors, textures and patterns available with your bid. The owner may require larger samples of the color selections in order to determine actual colors and patterns and may choose multiple colors. 3.7 Proof of Workers' Compensation and General Liability insurance is required. 3.8 Contractor shall provide items of a minor nature not specifically listed to provide a complete Owner acceptable project.
