Site work and paving for a road / highway in Danville, Illinois. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.

** As of 06/18/2025 project has been awarded to Daniel L. Ribbe Trucking, INC. in the awarded amount of $512,959.18.** The proposed improvements, designated as 2025 General Maintenance - Seal Coat of Various Streets, consist of seal coat A-1 and seal coat A-2 treatments. The contractor shall complete the work within 25 working days unless additional time is granted according to the Standard Specifications. Liquidated damages will be calculated according to Article 108.09 of the Standard Specifications. TRAFFIC CONTROL AND PROTECTION Traffic Control shall be according to applicable sections of the Standard Specifications, the applicable guidelines contained in the Illinois Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways, these Special Provisions, and any special details and Highway Standards contained herein. Coordination of Work: The Contractor shall notify the Engineer at least 24 hours in advance of the streets the Contractor proposes to seal. Special Details: The Contractor shall install "NO PARKING ANY TIME - POLICE ORDER" signs one day in advance of the next days' operation with adequate placement to clear the next days' work area. The Contractor shall ensure that the streets are adequately cleared before proceeding with the work. The Contractor shall remove the signs when the area of work is opened to traffic. The Engineer will provide the signs as requested by the Contractor. The Contractor shall return the signs to the Engineer at the close of the project. When signs are not applicable, they shall be either removed or turned from the view of motorists. Traffic control shall be according to Section 701, Article 107.09, Article 107.14 and highway standards 701501-06 and 701901-06. Basis of Payment: Traffic control and other materials included in the scope of this item, furnished, maintained, and removed will not be measured for payment but will be paid for at the lump sum price for TRAFFIC CONTROL AND PROTECTION SPECIAL. BITUMINOUS SURFACE TREATMENT This work shall consist of constructing a single bituminous surface treatment over as a sealcoat and / or in preparation for micro surfacing by others. This work shall be performed according to Section 403 of the Materials: Materials shall be according to the following Articles/Sections of the Standard Specifications. Item Article I Section (a) Seal Coat Aggregate (Note 1) (b) Bituminous Materials (Note 2) (c) Bituminous Materials Fog Coat (Note 3) 1003, 1004.03 1032 1032 Note 1. The seal coat aggregate quality shall be Class C. Aggregate shall be CM 16 100% crushed stone. CRUSHED LIMESTONE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. AGGREGATE GRADATIONS Grad. No. Sieve Size and Percent Passing 1/2 in. 3/8 in. 1/4 in. No. 4 No. 8 No. 16 No. 200 CM 16 100 97 +1-3 60 +/-10 15+/-10 2+1-2 1 +/-1 Note 2. The bituminous material shall be an HFRS-2P polymer modified emulsified asphalt meeting the requirements of Article 1032.06(f)(2) of the Standard Specifications. Note 3. Fog Coat shall be a 50/50 mixture of the bituminous material and water. The bituminous material shall be an NTEA polymer modified emulsified asphalt meeting the requirements of Article 1032.06(f)(2) of the Standard Specifications. Weather Limitations: This work shall be done between June 15 and September 15. Bituminous materials shall be applied only when the temperature of the air in the shade is above 55 degrees F. No work shall be started if local conditions indicate that rain is imminent. Construction Requirements: Repair and preparation of base or existing surface shall be by others. The Contractor shall cover all manhole lids with heavy paper or other suitable material prior to application of the seal coat. When a carpet drag is used the heavy paper shall be glued to the manhole lid to prevent it from being dragged with the carpet. The heavy paper shall be removed prior to reopening streets to traffic. The Contractor shall maintain access to all manholes in the limits of the work. The Contractor shall open each manhole within the contract limits 24 hours after the seal coat application. Initial Sweeping shall be performed by others. The Contractor shall remove remaining debris with gas powered leaf blowers or brooms just prior to application of bituminous material. The Contractor will be responsible for sweeping within 24-48 hrs. of placement after A-1 placement and for thorough re sweeping within 14 days. All swept material shall be hauled to Danville Public Works,1155 E Voorhees St Bids submitted via the U. S. Postal Service or private courier shall be identified on the outside of the envelope with the phrase: "2025 General Maintenance - Seal Coat of Various Streets" and should be to: City Clerk, Robert E. Jones Municipal Building, 17 West Main Street, Danville, Illinois 61832. The bids will be publicly opened and read aloud thereafter.
