DCHA is requesting proposals from qualified contractors to provide fire extinguisher inspection and maintenance and services. The contractor will be required to perform the services as follows. a. Check pressure gauge, it should be intact, the needle should be in the green zone, and it should not contain powder or moisture b. Check the manufacture date or date of last required maintenance to see if it is due for 5,6- or 12- year maintenance (teardown) or hydrotest c. Inspect cylinder, valve assembly and hose for damage or corrosion d. Weigh the extinguisher, the proper full weight is noted on the extinguisher label or stamped in the valve for Co2 type extinguishers e. Remove the safety pull pin and put back in place f. Remove old seal & replace with a new seal to secure the pin g. Remove the hose or horn, check for obstruction and continuity test Co2's 10lbs or larger h. Affix an inspection tag valid for one year, indicating that the fire extinguisher meets NFPA-10 minimum requirements. Contracts awarded from proposals received in answer to this solicitation will be for an initial term of one (1) year with the option to extend, at the District of Columbia Housing's sole discretion, for one (1) additional one (1) year option term for a potential total maximum term of two (2) years. Right to Reject, Waive, or Terminate the LOS. Reject any or all offers, or terminate the LOS process at any time, if deemed by the Agency to be in its best interest.
