Renovation of an educational facility in Lowell, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 20,000-square-foot educational facility.
Middlesex Community College, the Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids from Contractors for Renovations to the Carole Cowan Center Phase 2A HVAC, Life Safety and Roof Replacement at Carole Cowan Center in Lowell, Massachusetts, in accordance with the documents prepared by William Sloan Associates Architects The Project consists of but is not limited to: HVAC Improvements to the Rooftop Penthouse built up air handling unit with a new Direct Outside Air System (DOAS) and Air Handling Unit upgrades. HVAC work includes replacement coils, UV-C Ultra-violet virus sterilization, Fan VFD Replacement, and UV-C Ultra-violet virus sterilization system. Life Safety and Accessibility improvements include replacement of smoke exhaust system with elevator hoistway and stair well pressurization systems and controls, providing a new Fire Command Center. Accessibility and energy improvements include replacement of existing entrance doors and sidelights with power-assisted and revolving entrance doors, and vestibule renovations. Coordinated with the Penthouse Mechanical Work will be the replacement of the existing ballasted EPDM roof with a new Thermoplastic adhered roof system, with related structural steel dunnage Work must achieve Substantial Completion within 180 calendar days of the notice-to-proceed, no later than 16 January 2026; with Final Completion by 17 February 2026. The work impacts approximately 20,000 SF of the 120,000 6 story building. Renovation work includes Demolition, Concrete, Brick Masonry, Granite Paving, Miscellaneous Metal, Structural Steel, Metal Decking, Rough Carpentry, Metal Panels, Thermoplastic Roofing, Sheet Metal Flashings, Joint Sealants, Firestopping, Hollow Metal Doors and Frames, Aluminum Entrances, Sidelights and Revolving Door, Door Hardware, Acoustical Tile, Painting, Gypsum Board Assemblies and shaft walls, Signage, Fire Protection, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Fire Alarm and Lightning Protection work. . General bidders must be certified by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) in the following category of work, General Building Construction, and must submit a current DCAMM Certificate of Eligibility and signed DCAMM Prime/General Contractor Update Statement Question Deadline 05/30/2025 at 5:00 PM ET All bidding Requests for Information (RFIs) shall be submitted online
