Site work for a civil project in West Tisbury, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The Town of West Tisbury is soliciting bids for the installation of a hydrant and well for firefighting purposes at 273 Lambert's Cove Road. Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000. Written questions must be submitted by Noon on June 4, 2025. Bids are due by 2:00 P.M. on June 11, 2025. The clock in the Administration Office shall be the sole determining factor of time. Please note: Martha's Vineyard is an island and overnight delivery cannot be guaranteed. The Town shall award a contract by written notice to the selected bidder by no later than August 13, 2025. This deadline may be extended an additional thirty (30) days with the mutual consent of the Town and the Bidder. Work must be completed no later than November 30, 2025. Well: The well shall be a minimum of 5" in diameter and must be capable of providing at least 150 GPM (Gallons Per Minute). Well Screen shall be made of Bronze Evader of Stainless Steel, Non- Corrosive material. But NOT PVC. Tank: The Tank shall be a minimum of 20,000 U.S gallons capacity. Owens-Corning Fiberglass or equivalent, NOT Steel. Tanks to be installed as per Manufacturer's Instructions. Location of Tank to be determined by the Fire Chief (or designee). The tank shall be surrounded with insulation per manufacturer's specifications. Tank Specs: The tank shall be a 20,000 Gallon size. Construction shall be single wall fiberglass with approximate dimensions of 50' long and 14' in diameter similar to XEREXS Corporation model 3014/060 or equal, Fire protection model, manufactured in accordance with NFPA 22 and 1142 Standards. The tank is to be approved by the State Fire Marshall of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It shall have a 22" manhole with a 4" manhole extension. Tapping's shall be 3" coupling (for input) and two (2) 6" IPS steel sleeves extending 3' above tank and 1' into the tank located 1' on each side of the manhole. These sleeves are for vent suction and vent piping. Suction piping and vent piping to be 4" steel pipe. Suction pipe to be one piece from suction point in tank to elbow which accommodates the brass male 4 1/2 ". With cap (National Fire Thread). Bottom of the suction pipe to be positioned 3" from bottom of the tank. The vent pipe to extend into the tank to the base of the 6" sleeve which it goes into. Both the suction and vent pipe are to be fitted into the 6" tank sleeves with a 4" x 4" well seal model #022 as manufactured by Simmons Mfg. or equal. Both Vent and suction pipe to extend 18" above ground level. The vent pipe to have a 3/4 " drain placed in one of the outlets in the well seal at the tank. Vent pipe have a double elbow at the top and to have a rodent screen at the opening. The suction and vent pipes shall be anchored by a 4' x 4'. 4" thick concrete pad at grade with a wood float finish and edged with a steel edger. The tank is to be set on screened sand no larger than 1/2 ". The sides are to be filled with same sand and packed into position around the tanks with tamper. The sand is to extend 4" above the circumference of the tank. The remainder of the excavation may be filled with overburden and topped with 3" of topsoil and hydro-seeded. Recirculation Pipe will be 2" black iron pipe, shall be installed to two (2) feet above grade. Finished with a 90- degree elbow with an observation port on top, terminating with 1 1/2 " NFT (National Fire thread) Female swivel. Parking Area: Parking area shall be paved with type 1 (one) Bituminous concrete, minimum of four (4") inches thick. Signs stating the area is a "Fire Zone- No Parking" shall be installed. Misc: These regulations may be changed only with the approval of the Fire Chief (or Designee). These current regulations may be changed with prior approval of the Fire Chief or his/her designee. Pump: The pump shall be capable of yielding 150 GPM with a minimum of 10 PSI discharge pressure at the maximum draw down of the well, or as close to. It shall have a NEMA standard motor. The pump starter shall incorporate a magnetic starter so the pump may be controlled by a manual toggle switch. Wiring from the control panel to the pump shall be code approved. The pump shall be suspended in the well on a pit-less adapter equal to a Mass Model 6j21- 1/2 or equal. Piping from the pit-less adapter to the storage tank shall be a minimum of 3" Inside diameter pipe, which may be steel or schedule 40 PVC. The pit-less adapter and all the piping shall be installed a minimum of 48" below finish ground level. Electrical: All installation of electrical equipment shall comply with Federal, State and Local Codes, as well as all utility company specifications. All building and construction shall comply with all applicable building codes. Interior Plug and Play linkable waterproof LED tube light, 2ft 18W 5000k with switch cord easy install or equivalent, for interior cabinet light. Location of cabinet will be determined by the Fire Chief. Pump Switch: Square D DU222RB Safety Switch Not fusible 60A-240V-2P NEMA-3R, Single Throw or equivalent. Starter: Space for - 17H x 8W x 5.5D Backside of Cabinet pedestal: 200- amp Meter disconnect with 10 breaker space, supply 6 breakers. Conduit system from utility service point to meter disconnect. U6281-XL-200-5T9 - 5 terminal ringless small closing plate lever Bypass 1-200 Ampere Main Breaker 8 Branch circuit 5th terminal 9 o'clock position, (or equivalent). IF APPLICABLE -ORU5898-O-200 - 4 terminal ringless plain top 1-200 ampere Main Breaker 8 circuit Side Wireway (or equivalent) Exterior lighting: PS4-11-15WT, (15' Bronze light pole, 11 gauge.) or equivalent. 2ea- LIT ESXF2 ALO SWW2 KY DDB M2 Adjustable light output 3500-7500LM, switchable CCT - 3000K, 4000K and 5000K Knuckle yoke, Photocell, Dark bronze finish (or equivalent) Location of Lighting will be determined by the Fire Chief.
