Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Chilhowie, Virginia. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
The Town of Chilhowie is requesting quotes for paving of two town-maintained streets within the town limits. The two streets and details of the paving needed are: 1. the entire section of Aker Avenue starting at the intersection with U.S. Highway 11 and running north to its end at the intersection with Old Stage Road. Aker Avenue is approximately 1,100 linear feet long and is approximately 15 feet wide. The town is requesting two bids for Aker Avenue. One bid should be for repaving on top of the existing asphalt. The other bid should include milling of the current asphalt and then repaving. 2. the entirety of Responder Way and Fire Training Center Parking and Training Lot which totals approximately 18,750 square feet. Due to the heavy weights of Fire Department vehicles, etc. the bid should be for a minimum of a 4-inch base with a two-inch cap and include an appropriate gravel base layer. All bids must be priced with asphalt materials, density, and compaction in accordance with current VDOT standards. The selected bidder must provide a certificate of liability insurance in the amount of $2 million and will be required to obtain a business license from the Town of Chilhowie.
