Site work for a water / sewer project in Lorain, Ohio. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

https://www.morningjournal.com/2025/07/14/hot-waters-boating-access-remodel-postponed/ The previously scheduled closure of Hot Waters Boating Access, 1104 W. First St. in Lorain, was postponed due to the ongoing bid process and delay in construction materials. The city expected to begin construction and announced it would close the boat launch from July 7 until sometime in October, just before walleye fishing begins, one of the most popular times to fish in the fall. The launch will remain open to the public, according to a news release from Kate Golden, storm water manager for the city of Lorain Engineering Department. The delay is due to the ongoing bid process for planned renovations at the site and ongoing and unavoidable material availability interruptions. Currently, the city is awaiting bid submissions and the selection of a contractor for the long-awaited project. Once bids have been received and evaluated, an updated construction and closure schedule will be announced.“We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as we work to improve this vital public access point to Lake Erie,” Golden said in the release. “Our goal is to ensure that renovations are completed as efficiently as possible, with minimal disruption to users.” The project is part of the city of Lorain’s Waterfront Redevelopment Project, which will include a brand new Sunset Tier Park and the Pellet Terminal Remediation.City officials have said the boat ramp is in serious need of remodeling. The last time the boat launch and surrounding area was remodeled was in 1982. When construction begins, it will include a new concrete deck, floating docks and an exit ramp. The angle of the launch will be altered and made steeper to comply with standards of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The city received $1.1 million from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for remodeling the boat access. ----------------------------------- Please submit all pre-bid questions in writing by facsimile or electronic mail (Email) to: Kathyrn Golden, (440) 204-2059, Kathyn_Golden@cityoflorain.org.
