Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in West Hartford, Connecticut. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

This project intends to upgrade existing sidewalk ramps to bring them into compliance with current ADA standards. This will be achieved through complete redesigns of certain ramps and adding tactile warning strips to ramps with otherwise acceptable designs. The location map below outlines the locations of sidewalk ramps around the Town of West Hartford that are viable candidates for accessibility improvements. All Questions to Purchasing Services Tara Cummins Purchasing Agent. All questions must be submitted in writing and emailed to the Purchasing Office, to procurement@westhartfordct.gov, by June 13, 2025. Do not call the Engineer, Engineering Division or Purchasing Office with questions. All Bidders must file with their bid a bid bond, certified or treasurers check in the amount of 10% of the total of the base bid made payable to the Town of West Hartford. Performance and Labor and Material Payment bonds in the amount of 100% of the contract price will be required of the successful bidder if the contract pursuant to this request for bids exceeds $50,000.00. Substantial completion must be achieved by October 31, 2025 and Final Completion must be achieved by December 31, 2025. Thereafter, liquidated damages in the amount of EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS ($800.00) per calendar day shall be assessed, not as a penalty, but as liquidated damages which each Bidder acknowledges that the Town shall suffer by reason of any such default. By submitting a bid, each Bidder acknowledges that failure to effect substantial completion as noted above will precipitate inconvenience and disruption and the damages resulting therefrom are uncertain or difficult to prove and that the liquidated damage amounts established herein are a reasonable assessment of these damages. The Town of West Hartford is dedicated to improving community connectivity for our pedestrians by linking destinations such as schools, parks, shopping and public transportation from one end of West Hartford to the other in an accessible, safe and comfortable manner for people of all ages and abilities. This project intends to upgrade existing sidewalk ramps to bring them into compliance with current ADA standards. This will be achieved through complete redesigns of certain ramps and adding tactile warning strips to ramps with otherwise acceptable designs. This project was requested by the Town of West Hartford and will be funded with Town and State funds. The Accessible Sidewalk Improvements construction shall be accomplished in accordance with the plans included with these contract documents and the State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation, Standard Specifications for Roads, Bridges and Incidental Construction, Form 819, dated 2024. Certain items of these specifications have been modified or supplemented by special provisions which are included with these documents. The contractor shall pay the State prevailing wage on this project.
