Site work for a civil project in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Conceptual plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and water / sewer project.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project is located on the Santa Fe National Forest Pecos-Las Vegas Ranger District in New Mexico. It is located about 80 miles east of Santa Fe. In the summer of 2022, the Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon fire (HPCC) burned over 340,000 acres on Santa Fe and Carson NFs. The fire changed the landscape, and the transportation system was significantly impacted from fire and post-fire flooding. NFSR 263 is approximately 7 miles long and provides the only access into Gallinas Canyon. The road is currently closed. A two-phase design-build selection process is the expected solicitation approach. SCOPE OF WORK: The primary objective of the Gallinas Canyon Road is to design and construct numerous bridges, with the possibility to explore changing alignments or staying in the current alignment. The scope of this project consists of the following parts: 1. Assess NFSR 263 to develop a corridor scoping report that identifies needed design and construction, phasing plan, and cost estimates. Alternative stream crossing structures, major and/or minor bridge rehabilitation, road realignments, safety mitigation measures, and erosion protection measures may be considered. 2. Develop Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) for Phase I-IV improvements. 3. Construction and Construction Engineering for Phase I improvements. The limits of the project are located within NSFR 263, the transportation plan assumes the potential right-of-way issue at the beginning of NFSR 263. Request for Qualifications issued: June 2025 Short listed Proposers notified: August/September 2025 Request for Proposals (to short listed Proposers): June 2026 Proposals due: August 2026 Notice of Award: November 2026 ESTIMATED COST RANGE: The estimated price range for this project is between $2,000,000 and $5,000,000.
