The UIS main server room is currently cooled by two ceiling-mounted CRAC units and one floor-mounted unit. The ceiling units are outdated, difficult to access, and pose a risk of water leaks over server aisles due to overhead piping. The floor unit uses DX cooling with water-cooled compressors and a glycol loop to a dry cooler. All three units must run simultaneously to meet cooling demands, leaving no room for downtime or maintenance. Scope of the project includes: Replacing all indoor units with new floor-mounted equipment and all three outdoor condensing units. New units will utilize building chilled water, DX, and free-cooling sources to meet energy codes, with controls to alternate between units. The current air distribution will be modified to provide adequate air flow to servers. Demolition of all existing ceiling-mounted CRAC units, overhead water piping and associated infrastructure. New units will be tied into the existing campus Building Automation System, including leak detection. Representatives of the Owner and the Professional Services Consultant will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are urged to attend. Each bidder shall prequalify with the Owner in accordance with the General Instructions to Bidders (Document 00 20 00).
