The Scope of Work includes improvements to the existing roadway surface from the entrance station to the boat launch area and upgrades to the existing parking lot at the Swim Beach Area with a paved surface, designated as Schedule A, 3R/3R+. Roadway improvements involve full depth reclamation with cement to a depth of 5 inches, followed by a 3-inch asphalt overlay. The parking lot will receive 4 inches of new aggregate base and a 3-inch asphalt overlay. The alignment will generally follow the existing roadway with minor adjustments to improve ditch conveyance. Profile changes will raise the grade in distressed areas to avoid utility conflicts and lower it to reduce fill in the FEMA Zone A floodplain. Full closures of the road and parking lot must be coordinated with Colorado authorities, considering visitor patterns identified by the City of Durango. Principal work items include 1,700 cubic yards of roadway excavation, 4,200 tons of roadway aggregate (Method 2), 12,000 square yards of full depth reclamation with cement, 3,200 tons of asphalt concrete pavement (Type 1), one hydrodynamic separator, 3,300 linear feet of guardrail system MSG Type 2 Class A steel posts, and lump sum temporary traffic control.
