Demolition, site work, new construction, renovation and addition to a fitness / recreation center in Athens, Alabama. Completed plans call for the construction of a 8,000-square-foot fitness / recreation center; for the addition of a 19,600-square-foot fitness / recreation center; for the renovation of a 20,700-square-foot fitness / recreation center; for site work for a fitness / recreation center; and for the demolition of a fitness / recreation center.
The project includes partial demolition of and additions and renovations to the Carter Gymnasium building located on the Athens State University Campus. The project is an adaptive reuse design that will convert the gymnasium into a multipurpose community and event space. Approximately 3,000 SF of the portion of the existing structure. This space will be replaced with approximately 8,000 SF of new construction. A19,600 SF addition will be added to the south side of the building as well. The existing portion of the building to be renovated is approximately 20,700 SF. A cashier's check or bid bond payable to Athens State University in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000, must accompany the bidder's pro-posal. Performance and Payment Bonds and evidence of insurance required in the bid documents will be required at the signing of the Contract. (If applicable) Only general con-tractors who have been approved to bid pursuant to prequalification pro-cedures and criteria established by the Owner will be eligible to bid for the Project. Written prequalification procedures and criteria are avail-able for review at the office of n/a (Owner's or Architect's/Engineer's representative and address) The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in the Owner's judgement, the best inter-ests of the Owner will thereby be promoted.
