Renovation of a municipal facility in Burnaby, British Columbia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

The objectives of the project are to: a) Design and renew components of the existing BAS facility driven by facilities maintenance needs to extend the service life of the building; b) Conduct renewal work in phases to minimize disruption to operations; c) Realize energy savings opportunities; d) Ensure safe and healthy animal welfare during renewal work; and, e) Maintain safe site access, parking and operation of the facility during renewal work. Located at 3202 Norland Avenue, Burnaby, the existing 5,242 ft2 facility is in poor physical condition and in need of major like-for-like renewal work to extend its service life. Renewal work will be implemented in phases while the facility remains in operation. The original two-storey wood-framed building was built in 1969 with a masonry building extension added in 1982. See Appendix D - As-Built Drawings. In early 2025, a Building Condition Assessment Report (Appendix E) was completed with the following report findings that provide a general overview of potential renewal scope anticipated on the project, including but not limited to: 1) Parking lot repaving; 2) Exterior Lighting replacements; 3) Interior Lighting replacements; 4) Accessibility improvements; 5) Minor millwork repairs; 6) Structural upgrades to substructure; 7) Roofing replacement; 8) Domestic hot water tank replacement; 9) HVAC repairs; and 10) Exterior cladding and window replacement. TIMELINE: Project was cancelled. A new building project ios followed under a separate report.
