Demolition, site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Edison, New Jersey. Completed plans call for the demolition of a power facility; for the construction of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.

Electrical Sub-Station Building Replacement SCOPE OF WORK The Contractor shall furnish and be responsible for all labor, materials, equipment, supplies, transportation, and all other items that are necessary to complete the project. The exceptions are those materials, equipment, utilities or services, if any, herein specified to be furnished by the Owner. The Contractor is obligated to furnish all materials, equipment, and labor to complete and test the project even if specific mention of this fact is omitted from any part of the specifications. The purpose of these specifications is for the completion of a contract. This work will be performed at the main Middlesex College Campus at the Electrical Sub-Station building located in Edison, New Jersey. The contractor shall be required to attend a pre-construction meeting at the Edison, NJ campus at a time to be scheduled after the contract is awarded and other job progress meetings as required by the College. Furthermore, the contract will be required to coordinate all work between the College, its Construction Manager, third-party vendors, and subcontractors. Question Deadline Aug 08, 2025 at 4:00 PM Submit all questions or inquiries through the Opportunity Q&A on the College's procurement portal, by the deadline for inclusion in an addendum, if applicable BID SECURITY Each proposal must be accompanied by one of the following: A. an original bid bond, made payable to Middlesex College, in the sum of 10% of the amount of the proposal guaranteed by a qualified surety B. an original certified check or cashier's check, made payable to Middlesex College, in the sum of 10% of the amount of the bid proposal, drawn on a solvent banking institution, qualified to do business in the State of New Jersey The successful bidder to whom the contract is awarded shall deliver a separate performance bond and payment bond to the Owner within ten (10) days of the date of the award of the contract. The bonds shall be in an amount equal to one hundred (100) percent of the contract price SCOPE OF WORK The purpose of these specifications is for the completion of a contract. This work will be performed at the main Middlesex College Campus at the Electrical Sub-Station building located in Edison, New Jersey. The following is a list of drawings and material that are a part of these specifications and contract: Campus Map Electrical Sub-Station - Floor Plan A. SUB-STATION BATTERIES AND CHARGER/RECTIFIER 1) The purpose of this project is to remove, dispose of (with documentation) and replace, with new, the existing ninety-two (92) SAFT Nickel-Cadium (NiCad) Type SBM43-2 batteries located in the Sub-Station building as a Base Bid. The batteries shall be replaced with SAFT Type SBM43-2 batteries or equal. a. In addition, as an ALTERNATE #1, remove and replace the existing SAFT BatteryCharger/Rectifier with same, or equal. The new Battery Charger shall be furnished with a Battery Eliminator feature. The existing Charger/Rectifier, if replaced, is to be turned-over to the College. 2) The Electrical Sub-Station was constructed and installed in 2010. The existing SAFT Battery Charger/Rectifier details/specifications follow: Model # 1SCRF-130-012-E Serial # 313762/755280 ID INPUT OUTPUT AC Volts 240 DC Volts 130 AC Amps 16 DC Amps 12 Hertz 60, Phase 1, Ripple mV rms 85, Battery Type NiCad3) The awarded contractor shall install the new batteries in accordance with manufacturer guidelines by personnel certified for such installations. B. BASE BID 1) REMOVAL OF EXISTING BATTERIES a. Disconnect, remove, and prepare existing batteries for disposal. b. Package batteries per DOT and NJDEP universal waste guidelines. c. Clearly label all containers with identifying information. d. Transportation of existing batteries for disposal must be completed by a licensed hazardous or universal waste transporter.
